Volunteer

Y.E.S. provides free short term employment services, including skills transfer for full time positions to Manitobans without reference to their area of residence, ethnicity, education, gender, social strata or physical ability. The only crierion is age; individuals must be from16 to 29 years of age.

There is a negative correlation between age and unemployment. The transition from school to work means entering the labour market relatively unskilled, inexperienced, unfamiliar with job search and unaware of the job opportunities open to them. Consequently, many of them face the possibility of unemployment during their initial years as members of the labour force.

The majority of our clients are facing difficulties entering the labour market. Our project embraces those most at risk and those groups historically not connected to the labour force. This includes vulnerable workers, displaced workers; under represented groups; Aboriginal people; the underemployed; the poor and the working poor.

Investing in youth pays off for the whole community; once the vulnerable connect to the workforce, citizenship becomes a reality, and not just a buzzword.
